Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Ravi Development Authority in Lahore today (Friday) for an official day-long visit.
According to Radio Pakistan, PM Imran will inaugurate the project during his day-long visit to Lahore.
During the visit, Punjab CM Usman Buzdar and members of the provincial assembly will call on the prime minister. PM Imran is also expected to chair meetings of National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction and Development, and on education reforms in Punjab.
PM Imran will also address provincial civil servants, including secretaries, commissioners and police officers via video link.
PTI MPA Musarrat Cheema, in a tweet, said that the project will be a “game-changer” for Lahore and will benefit the public.
‘Most modern city’
According to a statement, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had given the green signal to establish “River Ravi Front Authority” for developing a “most modern city” in the north of Lahore.
The provincial government will promulgate an ordinance for the establishment of this authority with the chief minister as its chairman, read the statement.
The authority would work to develop the new city over an area of more than one 100,000 acres. It is expected that Rs5 trillion would be invested by the private sector to develop the city.
The new city will help to overcome the problems of congested traffic, water and environment in Lahore city.
A large lake and free barrages will also be built in the new city.
